"This was my first time using Mr. Handyman Littleton. I decided to give them a try even though their hourly fee was more than other handyman services I researched mainly because I thought a national franchise would provide better quality, more transparency and greater accountability (mistake #1). The technician Joe arrived on time and did a fair job repairing a fallen lattice beneath my deck. He purchased several items from Home Depot for the job which I knew would include a 30% mark-up (as initially informed by Brooke). When the work was finished I paid the amount I was told. The overall cost seemed a bit high but being busy with work I just paid without seeing an invoice (mistake #2). Once I received the emailed invoice I noticed the “materials cost” seemed quite high so I requested from Brooke a breakdown of the costs. Over a period of a week or so I had to request two more times (or 3x in total) before I was finally provided the itemized costs. Initially I received a generic list of supplies with no corresponding costs. Once I finally received the cost breakdown I noticed more materials were purchased than were used on my project so asked why I wasn't offered the leftovers to which I was told was their mistake. Overall I thought the technician was ok but the lack of initial transparency and responsiveness leads me to leave 2 stars. I will keep searching for a good handyman service to help out on misc projects. I have no problem paying for help but it's aggravating receiving less than what I paid for."
